Your starting point

Introductory prices, installation fees and price changes all belong in the comparison. Use the same assumptions for every offer and verify the latest terms directly.

Write down the complete timeline

A headline monthly price is meaningful only alongside how long it lasts. Record the introductory months, the subsequent price and the minimum contract term. If a price-adjustment clause applies, read how it works and include any known scheduled increases.

Calculate the contract total

Multiply each price by the number of months it applies. Add installation, activation, delivery and compulsory equipment charges, then deduct only credits you are eligible to receive. Divide by the contract months to obtain an effective monthly cost.

Use a simple example

A hypothetical 24-month contract at €30 for twelve months and €50 for twelve months costs €960 before fees. A €60 setup charge makes the total €1,020, or €42.50 per month. A competing €40 fixed monthly quote with no setup cost would total €960. These examples explain the method and are not live deals.

Check the address before comparing speed

A nationally advertised product may not be available at your home. Use the provider’s address checker and confirm the quoted technology. Compare the service offered to your address, not a faster package from a different area.

Include the things you really need

TV, landline calls and Wi-Fi boosters can change the total. Separate optional extras from the essential broadband service. If a bundle requires keeping a mobile plan, include its cost rather than treating the discount as unconditional.

Keep a record of the offer

Save the contract summary and the price terms at the time you order. ComReg’s comparison tool is another source for reviewing plans. Set a reminder before your minimum term ends so you can review your options with enough time to arrange a change.
